Reportedly, the project, which commenced on January 2020 in the University, explored the creative and innovative capacities of students and youths through a proper understanding of sustainability, their environment and the COVID-19 pandemic. The ultimate goal was to produce SDG-based solutions for social impact and profit. Also, the practice promotes entrepreneurship, start-ups development, innovation and a green economy.

Sequel to the submission of project ideas, there was a series of training and selection sessions that went on to produce 17 finalists, who were admitted for bespoke training at the Solution17 Innovation Hub.

The results were impressive. The project produced 17 start-ups with a projection to create a minimum of 5 million innovators by 2030, and Solution 17 Hybrid Hub was launched to transform ideas into green enterprises, amongst many others.

The Solution 17 project was, however, not without its constraints. But plans had been in place to ensure sustainability.

According to the initiators, a total of 105 team members were currently working on 17 start-ups in 17 local communities in Nigeria, and lessons learnt from these communities created Solution17 Green/Solution17 Green Recovery.

Also, COVID-19 had impacted the implementation of the projects in a number of ways.
