Covenant Best Nigerian University in Global Subject Rankings

God’s own University, Covenant, continues to maintain her pre-eminent status as an institution in a class of its own by emerging the best Nigerian University in the just-released 2021 Subject Rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

The THE subject rankings, which draw on the same dataset and methodology as the overall World University Rankings league table, examine performance in 11 broad areas. These are Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Clinical and Health, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Psychology, and Social Sciences,

Covenant, indeed, had for the past couple of years been the leading Nigerian institution in the THE Subject Rankings. Hence it didn’t come as a surprise when the University, again, emerged the best ranked Nigerian institution in the Business and Economics Subject Ranking, where she was nestled in the 201-250 bracket. The other Nigerian institution ranked in this category was the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, which emerged 601+.

The rankings, which assesses universities by their performance in the respective disciplines, saw Covenant ranked 401-500 in Social Sciences. Other Nigerian universities in this category were ranked 601+. These were all 1st generation Nigerian institutions. They included the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

While Covenant was placed in the 501-600 bracket in the Subject Rankings for Engineering, other Nigerian institutions were in far distant positions in the table. Obafemi Awolowo University was ranked in the 801-1000 bracket, while the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, and University of Nigeria, Nsukka, all emerged 1001+.

To the glory of God, Covenant was the only Nigerian University ranked in the Computer Science subject, with the institution placed in the 601-800 bracket.

Covenant also emerged 601-800 in the Physical Sciences subject, where other Nigerian institutions were ranked 1001+. The universities were the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Covenant’s excellent performance in the Subject Rankings attests to the unflinching dedication of her commitment to cutting edge teaching and research, enabled by the outstanding performance of faculty, staff and students.

To God alone be all the glory!
