A four-man delegation, which was led by the Chairman of the Association, Dr M. A. Ibrahim, said the University has become a pride of Ota, its host community, as it has significantly shaped positively the destiny of the people in the area and beyond.
Dr Ibrahim said they came, therefore, to identify with the University’s success stories and aspiration in giving a new meaning to tertiary education in Nigeria as well as intimate the Management that the University campus has been earmarked as a tour site for spouses of their members during the Association’s forthcoming National Conference to be hosted by the Branch in May 2007.
"We know the good things here both spiritual and academically. We felt we should showcase you to our other members from other states of the Federation," he further explained.
Another member of delegation and chairman of its Conference Local Organising Committee, Dr O. Okukoyi, said CU was what the people of Nigeria had yearned for in education, adding that the University’s effort in pioneering excellence had been validated by the several awards and accolades it has received during the short period of its existence.
In her remarks at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Aize Obayan, who welcomed the delegation on behalf of the Chancellor, Dr David Oyedepo, commended the association for incorporating their spouses in the conference programmes, especially by creating avenues for them to relax, saying that it was in consonance with their medical practice.
The Vice Chancellor thanked the association for making CU one of the tour sites and hoped that their visit would open up more avenues for future collaboration with the University.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Registrar, Yemi Nathaniel, expressed the value base of the private provision in education and said that a private sector driven economy was the only way forward for the nation.
He thanked them for their efforts and investments in saving people’s life.
Other members of the delegation included Dr O.O. Farayibi and Dr A. N. Dike.
