Professor Adebayo, who made a presentation "Corporate Management of Covenant Postgraduate Programme and Sanctity of Senate Approved Documents" at a meeting between the SPS and its stakeholders, said that the SPS played prime roles towards the realization of the vision since it was launched.

He said that the University would not downplay the roles of the SPS because it was the place where research activities were at their peak.

He highlighted the roles of the SPS in pursuit of Vision 10:2022 as Teaching, Research, Publications and Citations, Internationalization (Faculty and Students), Research and Industry Income. Covenant, he said, had recorded more than 5,360 scholarly output, 20,996 citations, and 3,042 authors between 2016 and 2021, with the SPS making the most contributions.

Professor Adebayo, however, raised concern about specific issues, which he hoped would be addressed with improved dedication by stakeholders of the SPS. He said the management of the admission processes, the capacity of enrolment of students at the postgraduate school, teaching quality, and quality of supervision, amongst others, demanded more attention.

The Vice-Chancellor commended what the management of the SPS had been doing to improve its administration.

Earlier on, the Dean, SPS, Professor Akan Williams, had informed participants that the forum was necessitated by the desire to apprise stakeholders on what the school's management had been doing to improve services. It was also initiated to have a broader perspective of what was being done and feedback on new initiatives.

Professor Williams, who made a presentation "Understanding SPS Processes", appreciated all the stakeholders for their commitment to the objectives of the postgraduate programmes. He said the SPS had at the last Convocation ceremony of Covenant produced 55 PhDs and 189 Masters, which was the largest since the school's inception. He said the school was targeting 100 PhDs and 200 Masters by the end of the 2020-2021 Academic Session.

The Dean updated participants on the different admission processes to the postgraduate school, deferment of admission, course registration and progress report. He also enlightened the audience to rules guiding the appointment of supervisors, assessors, examiners, and the SPS expectations.

Professor Williams said that stakeholders should be acquainted with the administrative policy handbook of the SPS and its operational guidelines. He advised that assessors and examiners should be sourced worldwide, and familiar names would not be approved.

He revealed that Covenant University's apex decision-making body, the Board of Regents, had approved scholarships, up to 100, for international students. He said that an increase in the number of students would similarly increase the University's research publications.

Also at the meeting held at the auditorium of the Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation and Development were the Sub-Dean, SPS, Dr Emmanuel Amoo, Heads of Departments, and staff.
