Franklin University, Covenant University Talks Robust Partnership

The Vice President for Academic Quality and Planning at Franklin University, Columbus, Ohio, United States of America, Professor Patrick Bennett, has commended the leadership of Covenant University for its astute and pragmatic approach to driving excellence academically.

Professor Bennett said this during a courtesy visit to the University Management on Thursday, May 12, 2022. According to him, it is a blessing to be at Covenant University at the present time, as his intention is to learn how Covenant is operating and see the possibility of evolving a working relationship between both institutions. "I hope this is the first of many other visits, and possibly developing an exchange scheme between both universities," he added.

Professor Bennett, who was accompanied by Glory Oguegbu, a project partner, said, having learnt and read a lot about Covenant University, with a full understanding of what the university stands for, there is ample ground to be excited about the prospect and future opportunities for robust engagement between Franklin University and Covenant University.

Mr. Clemson Ayegbusi of the United States Consulate in Nigeria, who was part of the visiting team, said it is always an exciting and amazing experience for him whenever there is the need to visit Covenant, as it is one Nigerian university that the American Consulate education team is always ready to introduce to universities out there in the United States.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, appreciated the team for the visit, noting that it is important that the relationship be driven for maximum impact, as collaboration and a mindset of multilateralism are key to helping shape the new world knowledge economy.

Professor Adebayo said Covenant University has remained committed to its founding philosophy, mission, and objectives, which are appropriately determined by the university’s core values in the quest to shape all graduands of the university into well-rounded global citizens.

He noted that the Total Man Concept (TMC), Entrepreneurial Development Studies (EDS) and Towards a Total Graduate (TTG) are some of the university’s customised programmes that have helped distinguish the university’s alumni from their peers out there in the world of work.

Professor Adebayo reiterated the University’s commitment to her International Visiting Scholars (IVS) scheme, as it has gone a long way in engendering the cross-fertilization of academic ideas. "We are open to new relationships cutting across resource sharing, faculty and student exchange initiatives, and a symbiotic partnership that will assist both institutions in driving excellence," he posited.

Present at the courtesy visit were the Registrar, Covenant University, Mr. Emmanuel K. Igban; Director, Quality Assurance and Academic Standards, Professor Olubanke Ogunlana; Director, International Office and Linkages, Dr. Isaac Akinwunmi; and Director, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Professor Omotayo Osibanjo.
