Professional Sensitizes Students on Managing Employee Experience in the 21st Century

The Covenant University Center for Entrepreneurial Developmental Studies was a beehive of activities recently, as the Department of Business Management hosted her statutory Town and Gown Interaction Seminar for the Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management Programme.

In her opening remarks at the event, which was graced by some of the school’s professors, lecturers, students and postgraduate students, Professor Antonia Adeniji, appreciated God who has made the second phase of this edition of Town and Gown possible. She acknowledged the management for rendering support and the senior colleagues for their physical presence.

During her presentation, the Guest Speaker, Martha Akintelu, an Eagle, who studied Industrial and Human Resource Management and is currently working with KPMG, delivered a thought provoking and inspiring lecture titled, ‘Managing Employee Experience in The 21st Century.’

The highlights of the presentation include the great Reconsideration Phenomenon, the Employee is King Paradigm and the Employee Experience Touch points. She pointed out that Employee experience is one’s journey, from the point of entering into an organization till retirement, termination of appointment or resignation.

 Martha Akintelu, placed emphasis on the fact that there is no organization an employee would be hired into without first being valued. She stressed on the importance of evolving, as the world is changing, especially with the introduction of Artificial intelligence (AI), in order to ensure that the services human beings would still be needed, regardless. Moreover, she stated that an employee is responsible for their own experience in any organization.

Furthermore, highlighting on the “great resignation and reconsideration Phenomenon’ she said that the advent of GEN Z in this era, has made Human Resource Managers believe that this new generation do care much about work, but rather about comfort. Human Resources Managers should find out why people are resigning as well, she said, and create options to keep them.

The presentation was followed by an interactive session which generated feedbacks from guest attendants and questions from students.
