Covenant University VC Wraps Up College Tour with Engaging Session at CST

The Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Timothy Anake, has concluded his insightful college tour with an engaging session at the College of Science and Technology (CST). The meeting, held at the CST Conference Hall, brought together the faculty and staff  of the College to reflect on achievements, discuss challenges, and explore strategies for advancing the University’s  7:2030 vision.

In his address, Professor Anake praised the CST faculty and staff for their unwavering commitment to academic excellence and research innovation. He referred to CST as ‘the engine room of scientific breakthroughs,’ affirming his administration’s dedication to supporting the college in achieving its goals.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lanre Amodu, also addressed the gathering, encouraging faculty members to view the administration as partners in progress. “We are here to listen, engage, and offer solutions. Some issues raised during visits to other colleges have already been resolved, and we are committed to doing the same here at CST,” he assured.

Professor Oluwatayo Adedapo, the Dean of CST, welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and his team, describing the visit as an opportunity to foster deeper understanding between the college and the University's leadership. “Even though this is your college, VC, I won’t say you know us fully yet,” she humorously remarked. She emphasized that the visit served dual purposes; to communicate the university’s vision and plans, and to gain valuable insights into CST’s strengths and challenges.

The Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Igban, expressed that the visit felt like a homecoming and commended the College of Science and Technology for its remarkable contributions to leadership within the University. “In 22 years, this college has produced three Vice-Chancellors, one Acting Vice-Chancellor, and two Deputy Vice-Chancellors - a truly impressive feat for a science and technology-focused college,” he noted. Mr. Igban thanked the College for its significant impact in teaching, research, and community development, and reiterated the Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to data-driven decisions and solutions.

During the interactive session, faculty and staff raised key concerns, including staffing shortages, the need for upgraded equipment, and limited workspace. The Vice-Chancellor assured them that these issues are being addressed, with ongoing efforts to hire additional faculty and install critical equipment. “We are prioritizing solutions to ensure you have the resources needed to excel,” he affirmed.

The session also highlighted CST’s notable achievements, such as groundbreaking research, faculty publications in high-impact journals, and student innovations that have garnered national recognitions. Faculty members expressed optimism about the administration’s proactive approach and pledged their continued support for Covenant University’s ambitious goal of remaining one of the top 10 universities globally by 2030.

The Vice-Chancellor’s tour of the University’s colleges exemplifies his hands-on leadership style and unwavering commitment to fostering collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence  within the institution.
