Covenant University recently hosted evaluation teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Bank of Industry (BOI), as part of the assessment for the prestigious Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) project. The high-profile visit, which took place in the Vice-Chancellor’s conference room, marked a significant step in the University’s bid to become a hub for digital and creative enterprise development.
Mr. Ali Mustapha Bello, representing the BOI team, praised Covenant University for its forward-thinking approach and confirmed that the institution had been preselected as one of the universities to host the iDICE project. He emphasized that the visit was to assess the university’s submitted proposal and evaluate its readiness in terms of infrastructure and resources. He expressed optimism that Covenant University’s team would provide a comprehensive tour to showcase their capabilities and potential for advancing creative and tech enterprises.
Amuche Ekwueme, speaking on behalf of the NUC, reiterated the purpose of the visit, highlighting that their goal was to evaluate the University’s capacity and preparedness for active participation in the iDICE initiative.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Anake at the meeting, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lanre Amodu, expressed enthusiasm about the visit and the University’s commitment to impactful innovations. He underscored Covenant University’s vision of creating and disseminating value beyond its campus, ensuring that its innovations reach society at large. He emphasized that the institution is not only dedicated to fostering technological advancement but also to sustainable growth.
Professor Amodu confidently stated that the visiting team would witness firsthand the structures and systems the University has put in place to support the program. He welcomed constructive feedback from the assessment, acknowledging the importance of external perspectives in driving continuous improvement. He expressed optimism that the engagement would yield positive outcomes for both parties.
At the exit meeting, the visiting teams assured Covenant University that they would compile their observations and provide feedback on the next steps.
