Dr Ada Peter, the Director, International Office and Linkages, at Covenant University, has developed a framework for improving industry-relevant learning at African Higher Education Institutions.
The framework is able to pinpoint existing industry gaps in a curriculum and recommend potential strategies for closing identified slits.
The tool is critical as two-thirds of the world’s population is falling behind in critical skills, including 90% of developing economies. According to the Global Skills Index, most university graduates especially from African higher education institutions need to upskill, reskill, and deepskill their talent. The challenge stems from curriculum largely outdated and heavy on theories that are nearly unused in the world of work.
Dr. Ada Peter was recently featured on MIT’s Jameel World Education Lab series, recognizing her as leading shifts in Africa higher education system.
