CU Holds Public Lecture on Advanced Engineering Materials: Key to Millennium Development Goals in Africa

With just seven years to 2015, the year set aside for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals; there have been fears about the possibility of meeting this target in most African countries.
Towards this end, the 22nd Covenant University's Public Lecture will focus on the importance of advanced engineering materials as a tool in meeting the set goals for development in Nigeria and the continent in general.
The lecture, titled," Advanced Engineering Materials: Key to Millennium Development Goals in Africa" will be delivered by a renowned expert in Metallurgy and Material Engineering, Professor Anthony O Inegbenebor on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the University's Chapel by 3pm.
Professor Inegbenebor is currently the Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Covenant University. He is also a member of the University Senate and serves in many other platforms including, Academic and Research committees.
Before joining the University faculty, Prof. Inegbenebor was a pioneer Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Maiduguri. A department he headed for 13 years. He is a peer reviewer of many journals in and outside Nigeria with more than 45 publications to his credit.
Professor Inegbenebor is a member of many professional bodies including, the Institute of Materials UK, Nigeria Institute of Production Engineers, and Nigerian Society of Engineers. He is also a registered member of COREN.
