Covenant University has blazed the trail in becoming the first University in Nigeria to sign reproduction agreement with the Reproduction Right Society of Nigeria (REPRONIG), a collecting society for Nigerian Copyright Commission.
The agreement was signed recently by the Management of the University, led by Vice Chancellor, Aize Obayan and Registrar, Yemi Nathaniel and a high powered delegation from REPRONIG led by its Chairman, Otunba Yinka Lawal Solarin and Executive Director, Dr Inyang Ekanem at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room.
With this agreement the University has demonstrated its commitment not only to abide by the copyright laws of the land but also to protect and reward intellectual property owners. The University will be issued license to cover photocopying of copyright-protected materials by its staff, students and other stakeholders. The license attracts annual fee, which will distributed to stakeholders of intellectual property through REPRONIG’s Member Associations.
