Dominion University Management Visits Covenant University

After 3 days of intense, rigorous, and robust engagement, the Management team of Dominion University, Ibadan, on a visit to understudy the working operations of Covenant University, commended the giant strides taken by the management team of the University over the past 19 years.

The Vice-Chancellor of Dominion University, Professor Abel Olorunisola, said he and the team were on a peer review visit and were seeking to learn, adapt, and seek what makes Covenant University stand out in the comity of elite universities, both in Nigeria and in the continent at large.

Professor Olorunisola notes that the relationship between the Chancellors of both universities has made the visit easy, and the 3-day working visit has been a most rewarding one, as he and his team have seen a lot, and there are many things to take back to Dominion University that will add value to their current operational framework.

Similarly, the Registrar of Dominion University, Dr. Fortune Afatakpa, said there is nothing that would have better equipped him if he had never visited the University, as exposure is the mother of excellence.

Dr. Afatakpa appreciated the various units in the Registry department of Covenant for availing him of their time and helping him learn something new that will assist the registry unit of his institution to improve the way they currently operate.

The University Bursar, Mr. Olaniyi Somefun, commended the leadership of Covenant for the learning experience, noting that it was a unique experience that will add value to the bursary processes of Dominion University.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, said there is no end to success, as there are always better ways to do things, and we professionals in the education industry need to constantly recalibrate and make proper adjustments to meet the present time reality.

Professor Adebayo advised the visiting Vice-Chancellor and his team to keep the communication lines open and interact to get appropriate assistance, which will result in breaking the glass ceiling and possibly emerging among the world’s best citadels of learning.

He noted that the visit was a good way of learning from an institution that was once a neophyte in the industry. Professor Adebayo said what makes a university great is a vision driving it, and Covenant University has been mindful of the challenge of leadership bedevilling the continent, which has necessitated her focusing on running with the vision of raising new generation leaders. He added, "The quest to raise a new generation of leaders through inculcating in our students values that are vital to maximizing destiny has made our visionary drive a non-negotiable task."

During the 3-day working visit, the management team from Dominion interacted with the various units and directorates under the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Registry, and Financial Services.

Present during the courtesy call on the University’s management were the Acting Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Igban; Director, Financial Services, Pastor Olugbenga Kiki; Director, Academic Planning Unit, Professor Philip Aizebokhai; and Director, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Professor Omotayo Osibanjo.
