The Hult Prize is an initiative of Hult International Business School in partnership with the former American President, Bill Clinton and Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).

The Hult Prize which started in 2009, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to launching the world’s next wave of social entrepreneurs. It encourages the world’s brightest business minds to compete in teams to solve the planet’s challenges with innovative ideas for sustainable start-up enterprises.

The theme for this year’s competition is “Crowded Urban Spaces,” which focused on building sustainable, scalable and fast-growing social enterprises that double the income of 10 million people residing in crowded urban spaces, by better connecting people, goods, services and capital.

Team Armstrong presented a fish farming idea and scored 19.67 to emerge first while Team Reform and Team Phinix scored 18.3 apiece to emerge second and third position respectively.

The campus Director, Hult Prize at Covenant University, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbebor, explained that Team Armstrong would represent the University and Nigeria at one of the Regional finals in Dubai, Boston, San Francisco, London or Shanghai.

“Regional champions will emerge from each of the five regions to move to the Hult Prize Global Final in September 2016, to be hosted by the former President Bill Clinton. The regional champions will pitch their start-ups before a world-class audience and notable global leaders, who will select and award the winning team the Hult Prize, along with USD 1 million (One Million US Dollars) in start-up capital,” Ogbebor explained.
