College Of Engineering Board, Set to Commence Training for Engineering Departments

The College of Engineering Board, under COREN, has concluded plans to be one of the advisory bodies for all the Engineering students at Covenant University in order to foster the relationship between the Engineering Industry, and the Academia.

This was revealed during the courtesy visit of members of the College of Engineering Board, led by Professor David Olukanni, to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun. H. Adebayo.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Dean College of Engineering, Professor David Olukanni, appreciated the Management of Covenant University, and noted that the visit, as stipulated by COREN, is to engage industry experts in all engineering activities. He said the members of the College of Engineering Board present at the visit, are the members who have been chosen to serve in the cause.

The board members present at the meeting include Managing Director SNEPCO, Engr. Mrs. Aiboni Elohor, who will be working with the Chemical Engineering Department; Managing Director of Nigeria Foundries, Ambassador (Engr.) Oye Barberopoulos, who will be serving in Mechanical Engineering Department; and the Assistant General Manager, Subsurface Sahara Group, Engr. Opeyemi Oluwalade, who will be serving with the Petroleum Engineering Department.

Professor David Olukanni commended the cooperation of all Heads of the Engineering Departments who are ready to work with the delegation as they commence their activities.

In response to the visit, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, appreciated the Board Members for finding time to be a part of the vision of Covenant University. The Vice-Chancellor noted that the University’s desire is to raise a new generation of leaders and is grateful to have over twenty thousand graduates who are blazing the trail. He added that the model the school adopted is such that it has in-house indigenous curriculum which has been tested and is working perfectly for the institution.

Professor Adebayo acknowledged the privilege of having the Engineering Board Members as they bring exponential experience that will further advance the cause of the University. He said he believes and appreciates the fact that the board will add value to the students, the College and by extension, the University, as they also help in driving the vison of raising a new generation of leaders. 

Others at the meeting were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olujide Adekeye; the Registrar, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David, and other Senior Officers of the University.
