Canada Based Medical Expert to Volunteer at the Covenant University Medical Centre

The Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Abiodun Adebayo and the University’s Medical Team recently received a Canadian medical expert, Dr. Mary Stella Anidi, who is set to volunteer at the University’s Medical Centre for five weeks.

Dr. Anidi, who has been volunteering in different medical areas for many years said she passionately desires to fulfill the purpose for her life which is to take care of the vulnerable in the society.

Speaking further, during a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Anidi, who specializes in Internal Medicine, appreciated the management, faculty and staff of the University for the opportunity, noting that her purpose is to serve, give her time to God, learn, create a symbiotic relationship, and grow spiritually. She added that after a close observation, she decided that there was need to come to the University due to the absence of internal medicine practitioners in Nigeria.

While making his remarks at the event, the Director, Health Services, Covenant University, Dr. Ademola Adebanjo, expressed gratitude, describing Dr. Anidi, as a jolly good fellow who will positively impact the medical center. He noted that her interpersonal relationship skills will be much needed, with the good aura she possesses which would create a good impact on patients, as well as staff of the center. He added that during her stay, he is positive that a skills- set transfer would be initiated so as to maximize her experience as a Canadian expert.

In his remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olujide Adekeye, appreciated Dr. Anidi’s urge to volunteer, stating that volunteering adds to work experience, which people rarely take advantage of. He stated that he is convinced that the medical center will do well with her expertise.

Making a closing remark at the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, recounted that Dr. Mary Anidi, has been volunteering since 2003 and expressed the conviction that she is serving her purpose. He prayed that God will reward her for the huge sacrifice.
