Vice-Chancellor Awards SDGs Team for Outstanding Contributions, Encourages Continued Efforts

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) team of the University, for their valuable contributions to the progress of the institution. He expressed this in a special meeting, with the Analytical Team and SDG champions for Goals 1-17, which was a platform for the Vice-Chancellor to commend their efforts and encourage enhanced excellence.

During his remarks at the event, Professor Adebayo, thanked the SDGs team, for honoring his invitation and acknowledged their significant contributions to the ongoing examination process. He expressed gratitude for the professors who also participated in invigilating the exams, while commendation letters and awards were presented to each SDG champion.

Highlighting the importance of impactful living, he urged the team members to reflect on the legacy they wish to leave behind; emphasizing the need for everyone to ‘think impact, act impact, and pursue impact’ in all their endeavors, not just personal or professional tasks, but in every assignment they undertake.

He reminded the team that the awards and commendation letters they received are a driving force to continue striving for excellence. "Life is all about pushing harder and pursuing far," he noted.

Appreciating their valuable contributions to the University's progress, he stated, "Each time tributes are read at a funeral, it is not the dead person’s properties, money, investment, or luxuries that are mentioned but the role and impact they made while alive.”

In his appreciation speech, the team leader, Professor Emmanuel Amoo, thanked the University Management for their support and promised to work harder for greater success. SDG1 Champion, Professor Felicia O. Olokoyo, also expressed gratitude and pledged to work harder to achieve higher levels of success.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olujide Adekeye, echoed the Vice-Chancellor's sentiments on the importance of impact. He commended the team's tremendous improvements and recognized their efforts. He encouraged them to continue enhancing their work and to focus on areas needing improvement to maintain and upgrade the Institution's status.

In his closing remarks, Professor Adebayo urged the team to be proactive in their work, suggesting they create a dedicated website for SDG updates, separate from the school's website. He welcomed policy recommendations aligning with the school's values and expressed his hope for sharing more good news in future meetings. He concluded by advising the team to continue improving their efforts to achieve greater success and win more accolades.

The meeting ended on a high note, with prayers for continued progress and success in the SDGs' mission.
