Covenant University Emerges 1st in West Africa in Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Research 2025

Covenant, God’s own University, has done it again, as she continues to retain her eminent status as an institution in a class of its own, by emerging the best West African university and the 3rd best in Africa, in Times Higher Education’s newly unveiled Interdisciplinary Science Research ranking for 2025.

In this inaugural rankings, Covenant is ranked 1st in Nigeria, 1st in West Africa, 3rd in Africa, and 73rd globally.
 
A total of 749 universities from 92 countries out of 1023 entries were ranked. In Nigeria, 19 out of 27 universities who made submissions were ranked and delightfully, Landmark University, Covenant’s sister university was ranked 2nd with a global ranking of 251-300.
 
While breaking the news of the new ranking during one of the Chapel Services of the institution, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, accorded all glory to God, stating, “This is indeed a validation of our visionary base as a university. It is the hand of God at work in Covenant University and we give God all the glory!” He saluted the quality leadership and the unending support of the Chancellor and Chairman Board of Regents, Dr David Oyedepo. which has brought huge transformation to the University.
 
He reiterated that the feats the University has recorded in the past years, has not been by power nor by might, but by the faithfulness of Godover the institution. Adding that Covenant is God’s own University, with a unique mandate to raise a new generation of leaders in all spheres of human endeavour; and this accounts for the extraordinary happenings being recorded in the University over such a short time.
 
Elucidating on the significance of the ranking, the Vice-Chancellor explained that ‘Interdisciplinary Science’ refers to the integration of the knowledge, traditions and processes from multiple scientific disciplines. “It can involve multiple academics who collaborate with one another across different disciplines. It may also be a single academic, approaching a scientific question across multiple disciplines,” he opined
 
He went on to assert that the ‘THE’ Interdisciplinary Science Research (ISR), is a measure of the University’s contributions towards interdisciplinary science. “The ISR methodology, consists of three pillars, each representing a stage in the life cycle of research projects: inputs, process and outputs. Each pillar is further divided into metrics to measure different aspects of that stage. There are 11 metrics in total. The 3 pillars consist of: Input - 19%; Process - 16% and Output - 65%,” he posited
