Covenant Celebrates Pastor Faith Oyedepo’s Birthday at State Hospital

Covenant University’s Community Development Impact Initiative Committee, on Thursday, February 06, 2020, visited the Ogun State General Hospital, Ota, where it delivered beverages, toiletries, detergents, groceries and cash donation to patients in the hospital as part of activities commemorating the birthday of Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Oyedepo, wife of the University’s Chancellor.

While receiving the team, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Taofeek Somade, in company of the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs. Amana T.R. and other senior medical personnel in the hospital, appreciated the continued involvement of Covenant in improving the State General Hospital, Ota.

Dr. Somade noted that Covenant was behind the renovation of the Emergency Ward of the hospital and the provision of a power generating set some years back. He stated that those acts of magnanimity from the University had to very large extent made healthcare delivery at the hospital better.

The Medical Director posited that Covenant University had been a good partner, proving that the town and gown could form a relationship that would be beneficial to the entire populace. He said that universities exist to provide for the interest of the society, through training people to become useful to the community, with the community also coming to universities, like Covenant, for solutions to different challenges.

Dr. Somade used the occasion to wish Pastor (Mrs.) Oyedepo a happy birthday with longevity. “It is my prayer that on the occasion of her birthday, she will be endowed with a renewed interest in service to humanity,” he added.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor AAA. Atayero, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Akan Williams commended the leadership of the State Hospital for the quality work they were rendering in the service to humanity, noting that Covenant would continue to partner with them in making healthcare accessible to the less privileged.

Professor Williams said that Covenant would not shy away from her corporate social responsibility to the people of Ota, taking into account the fact that community impact was one of the pivotal functions of any quality institution of learning.

Members of the Committee alongside Professor Williams visited the pediatric, neonatal intensive care unit and the outpatients’ wards where gift items were shared amongst those present. The Committee also footed medical bills of indigent patients and paid for medication of those that couldn’t afford to pay.
