2022 Career, Education Fair: Multinationals, Corporate Bodies Seek Covenant Graduates

It was a beehive of activities as Covenant University’s Students’ Engagement and Activities Development (SEALD) unit, in a bid to position graduates of the University at the forefront of employers’ choice, organized the 2022 International Education and Career Fair with the theme ‘Scaling Up.’

The event attracted top brand companies and leading multinationals including Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Mckinsey Company, Jumia, Friesland Campina, Brown HR Solution, and Alan & Grant, amongst other industry leaders, with the intent of getting over 30% of its graduating students employed before the academic session, and at the same time, preparing opportunities for those going on industrial work experience schemes in the next academic session.

The career and education fair engaged students in the areas of securing job opportunities and further education. The career fair was tailored to meet the yearnings of students who are ready to enter the job market, while the education fair accommodated students who are considering advancing their education prospects, both at home and abroad.

Declaring the event open, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, said the fair is fashioned to create an enabling environment for students and potential employers to meet, establish professional relationships, and discuss possible job or internship opportunities.

Professor Adebayo stated that the foreign-based higher education institutions represented at the fair are expected to inform Covenant University graduates about available postgraduate study opportunities at their respective institutions, as well as guide them through the admission requirements and process.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the University approach to education has, over the years, turned out graduates that possess exemplary character with relevant skillsets in the workplace. "Our graduates continue to secure overseas postgraduate studies placements in Europe, America, and Asia. Besides, our quality assurance mechanism has earned the University accreditation status for all its programmes with the National Universities Commission and the relevant professional bodies," he added.

Professor Adebayo stated that Covenant University students' learning experiences have seen them develop the necessary leadership skills, allowing them to stand out among their peers and give them a competitive edge in the workplace.

The events offered participating students the privilege to learn a lot, especially as it pertains to work place, industry, and education abroad, as the fair also featured interactive seminar sessions from seasoned speakers including: the immediate past Director, International Office and Linkages of Covenant University, Dr. Ada Peters; Business Development Manager, UNITEs Cisco, Yetunde Faseun; Human Resources Analyst, Alan & Grant, Joshua E. Edison; and Regional Human Resources Business Partner, Allianz Africa, Pelumi Omolua, amongst others, who took the registered participants through topics such as, ‘Developing your Career Path, Personal SWOT Analysis, and Securing Admission into Ivy League Universities.’

The 2022 International Career and Education Fair will be held from May 18th – 19th, 2022 at the school’s ALDC auditorium and the cafeteria 2 multipurpose hall.
