The Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, has charged members of the university’s Enactus team to go all out and make the university proud at the 2023 national championship billed for July this year.
Professor Adebayo made the demand when he received in his office the Programmes Officer of Enactus Nigeria, Toluwalase David-Oluwole, and a member of Covenant Enactus on a courtesy visit on Friday, April 28, 2023. Professor Adebayo said it was time for the university’s representatives to go beyond being national to emerging global champions.
He said that Enactus has provided an important platform for young people around the world to hone their leadership and creative skills, and the university management will continue to support the entrepreneurial and ingenuity spirit of Team Covenant toward going beyond the solution of the Pet City Project that won them the national championship twice in a row.
Professor Adebayo appreciated the Programmes Officer and Faculty Advisers for creating time to take members of the team through rigorous training and retraining to be abreast of global best practices, thereby spurring them to make tangible contributions towards the social development of the community through entrepreneurship and leadership.
"We must work at putting the name of the University on the global stage, both academically and creatively, by thinking of new solutions to global challenges that will make life meaningful to all," he posited.
The lead Faculty Adviser, Architect Abraham Owoseni, said the team was excited about the prospect of what they could achieve in the calendar year, thus the scheduling of the annual training programme to put the team in fine shape ahead of the national tournament.
Architect Owoseni, who came with Dr. Efe-Imafidon Emmanuel and Elizabeth O. Dania, both Faculty Advisers, said the training over the weekend of April 28th through 30th will help improve the team’s capacity and readiness status towards evolving meaningful innovation for the national competition.
Earlier on, the Programmes Officer of Enactus Nigeria, Toluwalase David-Oluwole, representing the Country Director, Mr. Michael Ajayi, said her visit was to officially present the grant award of $2,500 that members of the Covenant Enactus Team won and engage them in preparation for the 2023 national championship.
David-Oluwole encouraged the team to improve on their performance these past years by superseding what was accomplished by the Pet-City Project to compete favourably both at the national and global levels to clinch the big prize.
