The quality of graduates of Covenant University was again affirmed recently when a team from Sahara Group visited the University management to evolve a relationship that will see graduates of Covenant get priority attention in their recruitment endeavour.
The Group Head, Human Resources of Sahara Group, Mrs. Ivie Imasojie, said those that have been hired into the Sahara Group fold over the years have been exceptional, talented, and performed excellently well in all they have saddled with.
She said her organisation is passionate about identifying top talents wherever they may be and bringing them into the fold through the graduate management training program and internship scheme for those desirous of making a difference in their professional field of calling.
Mrs. Imasojie said the visit to Covenant is about engaging with the University and her products towards talent acquisition that will cut across those interested in internship opportunities and those seeking full-time employment with the group.
The Head, Talent Acquisition, Sahara Group, Mr. Israel Oloyede, said the Group has had different experiences in the course of the recruitment nationwide, and graduates of Covenant have always stood out of the pack, with graduates of the University forming 14% of the talents brought into the Group in the last recruitment exercise.
Mr. Oloyede said graduates of Covenant have remained a delight for the organisation, as they have always come in with an unmatchable skillset that makes them desirable to every organisation. "We are here to say thank you for the quality of training injected into your students and for building a bunch of professionals that have displayed competence in all they do," he added.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, said the management of the University since its inception has been intentional about the kind of students and tutors that have been brought into the academic environment, with the central focus on delivering fully on the mandate of raising a new generation of leaders.
Professor Adebayo said the feedback has been commendable thus far from employers around the world on the exceptionality of graduates of Covenant University. He noted that the indigenous programmes of the University have significantly contributed to shaping and moulding the graduates of the University.
He assured the leadership of Sahara Group of the readiness of Covenant University management to partner with them to train and create the requisite talent pool that will fit well and meet the expectations of industry and the world of work.
"We are working to bridge the gap between the industry and academia so that solutions to industry challenges could be addressed through research and open new frontiers for proffering solutions to the needs of the world of work," Professor Adebayo posited.
