Covenant University officially commenced the 2024/2025 Omega Semester academic session with a Welcome Assembly which served multiple purposes; it was a time to thank God for journey mercies, seek His guidance for the new semester, and reaffirm the institution’s commitment to academic excellence.
In his opening remarks, the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Igban, encouraged students to stay focused and dedicated to their studies. He emphasized that the Omega Semester is not just about completing what has been started but about finishing strong. He urged students to let excellence be their standard, integrity their foundation, and God's wisdom their guiding light.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lanre Amodu, reinforced the importance of excellence, encouraging students to start the semester on the right path. "Every great achievement begins with the right first step. To have a successful outcome, you must start by doing things the right way from day one," he advised
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Anake, encouraged students to soar like the eagles. “Eagles fly at high altitude,” he said, urging them to aim high. He stressed that challenges should be seen as stepping stones, not stumbling blocks. “Storms refresh you and help you overcome challenges,” he added.
Delivering a message at the event, the Secretary, Board of Regents, Pastor Adebisi Adeboluwade, reinforced Covenant University’s commitment to raising graduates who excel both academically and morally. He emphasized the importance of obedience to guidance, stating, “Instruction is a pathway to distinction,” and encouraged students to follow God’s direction for success.
Students left the gathering inspired, refocused, and ready to approach the new semester with excellence and determination.
