The senior leadership of Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America, is on a mission to advance the Memorandum of Understanding between Covenant University and Northeastern University.
The Vice President for Global Network Expansion at Northeastern University, Gbemi Disu, said their visit to Covenant was to learn more about how to give life to the existing MoU, noting that Nigeria has a pool of talented folks that, when well harnessed in partnership with Covenant University, will help drive excellence.
Ms. Disu said their partnership will be tailored towards helping students get more skills, develop competence, and evolve alliances between colleges and programmes in both universities, especially in the area of institutional and individual research.
“We are here to listen to and understand the strategic vision and mission of Covenant University and see possible areas of alignment and promising partnership, with research and student exchange being possible points of focus,” she added.
The Director of Covenant University International Office of Linkages, Dr. Isaac Akinwunmi, while appreciating the management of Northeastern University for the visit, called for the immediate engagement of the framework of the existing MoU between both institutions.
According to him, the collaboration can get underway in the region of graduate student exchange programmes, joint research endeavours and faculty exchange initiatives.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, said Covenant University was enthused about the prospect of partnering with Northeastern University and hoped that the existing framework would be a very good one to commence the intended partnership.
He said it is important to identify mutual areas of interest and start working on the partnership to the point of fruition. “We are excited at the prospect of this collaboration, and we will work with you to make a success of this intended partnership,” he added.
Professor Adebayo promised the delegation of Covenant University’s representation at the public in-person educational event in Nigeria organised by Northeastern University.
